Chief Scientist: Prof. Fahu CHEN  Academician/Reseacher

Scientific Objective:

Taking atmospheric circulation—marine environment—water cycle—cryosphere—water resources—ecology and living environment as the main research line, the research area 2 shall focus on the study of environmental effects caused by the climate change facts in key research fields, and study the key atmospheric circulation systems that affect water vapor transport and precipitation, and the law of the environment (ecology, hydrology, and ocean) evolution under the conditions of climate change, specifically focus on the impact of cryosphere changes and its potential risks to the water resources in CPEC and discuss the evolution law of ecosystems in fragile ecological regions and the influence and feedback of human activities.

Research Directions:

Climate change and westerlies-monsoon interaction

Cold region hydrology

Ecological evolution

Cryosphere evolution and environmental effects

Marine environment and climate change
