CPJRC and KIU Entered into a Memorandum of Understanding

On January 23, 2022, China-Pakistan Joint Research Center on Earth Sciences (CPJRC) and Karakoram International University (KIU) jointly held a video conference to enter into a memorandum of understanding on issues such as setting up field stations in northern Pakistan and carry out bilateral cooperation and exchanges. Personnel attending the conference included: Academician Cui Peng, Director of CPJRC; Su Lijun, Executive Deputy Director of CPJRC; Hong Tianhua, Executive Director of CPJRC; Zhang Fan, Deputy Director of CPJRC; Professor Atta Ullah Shah, President of KIU; Dr. Javed Qurashi, Department of Earth Sciences of KIU and Dr. Tasawar Baig, Director of Department of International Relations of KIU. The conference was chaired by the Executive Director Hong Tianhua.
At the meeting, Academician Cui Peng and President Atta Ullah Shah delivered speeches and reviewed the history of cooperation between the two parties. They also emphasized the necessity and importance of cooperation in view of the special geological structure and frequent disasters in the northern mountainous areas of Pakistan, and expressed their expectations for further cooperation in the future.
Subsequently, the two parties entered into a memorandum of understanding online, covering issues such as setting up field monitoring stations in Gilgit, Hunza and other places in northern Pakistan, carrying out project research jointly, and promoting academic and personnel exchanges.
Researcher Su Lijun, Dr. Javed Qurashi and Dr. Tasawar Baig delivered speeches after the signing of the agreement, affirming that the signing of the memorandum will facilitate further cooperation and exchanges between the two parties.
