The 2nd International Conference on Climate Change and Disaster Risk (The First Announcement)

Publisher: CPJRC

time: 2025-04-21

With global warming, extreme weather events are becoming more frequent, while natural hazards are spreading wider and becoming more severe. Large-scale, compound and cascading disasters pose serious threats to human society, particularly to the safety of life and property. Research on climate change and disaster risks has emerged as a critical issue of global concern. Following the successful organization of the “1st International Conference on Climate Change and Disaster Risk” in Islamabad, Pakistan in October 2023, China-Pakistan Joint Research Center on Earth Sciences (hereinafter referred to as CPJRC) plans to collaborate with UNESCO Chair for Mountain Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience, Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan to hold the “2nd International Conference on Climate Change and Disaster Risk” in Beijing in October 2025.

The 2nd International Conference will build upon the achievements of the first and focus on the theme of “Climate Change and Disaster Risk”. It will particularly explore the impact of climate change on natural hazards, the mechanisms of disaster occurrence and response measures, and disaster risk management and will aim to promote in-depth research on climate change and disaster risk, enhance social resilience in disaster prevention and mitigation.

We cordially invite experts, policymakers, students, and community workers from both China and overseas to join us. Together, we will delve into the disaster effects of climate change and their adaptation and response strategies, exchange and share new understandings, theories, technologies, and experiences, and promote international collaboration in disaster prevention and mitigation efforts.
