From October 21 to November 4, the "2nd Silk Road International Training Course on Natural Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development," funded by Bureau of International Cooperation of CAS and HEC and co-organized by CPJRC and UNESCO Chair for Mountain Disaster Risk and Resilience, was held in Chengdu.

Professor Su Lijun of CPJRC attended and gave an address. He emphasized that this training is a concrete embodiment of the BRI spirit, aiming to provide a platform for young researchers from BRI countries to exchange ideas. As a cooperation platform along CPEC, CPJRC has successfully organized 14 training courses about mountain disaster, gradually establishing a training brand and cultivating talent for partner countries.

The training revolved around three major themes: "Climate Change and Natural Disasters," "New Technologies and Applications in Disaster Prevention and Control," and "Disaster Risk and Sustainable Development." Almost 16 experts from IMHE-CAS, IGSNRR-CAS, and Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of CAS (XIEG-CAS), IRDR; Institute of Geophysics of China Earthquake Administration, Beijing Normal University, Sichuan University, Chongqing Institute of Administration, University of Twente in the Netherlands, and University of Haripur in Pakistan gave lectures. The curriculum covered key technologies such as disaster prediction and identification, risk assessment, engineering mitigation, monitoring, and early warning.

The training also organized a four-day field trip to typical landslide and debris flow, and earthquake-induced secondary disaster sites in areas such as Beichuan, Yingxiu, Diexi, and Longchi in Sichuan Province. Over 30 trainees from universities, research institutes, and international organizations including African Union and Asian Disaster Preparedness Center participated.
