CPJRC Effectively Supported the Second Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange

From June 10 to 12, 2025, the Second Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange was held at the Chengdu Tianfu International Convention Center. The Conference was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering, National Natural Science Foundation of China, China Association for Science and Technology, People's Government of Sichuan Province, and Chongqing Municipal People's Government. Leveraging its strengths in China-Pakistan scientific collaboration, CPJRC supported multiple conference activities to ensure the event's smooth execution.
On June 11, the Belt and Road Forum for Young Scientists, organized by the Secretariat of the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO ), was convened. Centered on the theme "Focusing on Sustainable Development, Jointly Addressing Global Challenges," the forum gathered over 100 young scientists and scholars from Belt and Road partner countries to discuss scientific innovation cooperation and contribute wisdom to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
At CPJRC's invitation, Pakistan partner Prof. Mohammad Qasim Jan, Foreign Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Emeritus Professor of the University of Peshawar, attended the forum and delivered remarks during the opening ceremony. Prof. Mumtaz Shah, Chairman of the Department of Earth Sciences, Quaid-i-Azam University and CPJRC Pakistani Project Leader, attended the forum as well.
On June 12, the Round Table on International Scientific Cooperation for Disaster Prevention and Mitigation was held, co-organized by Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), Department of Emergency Management of Sichuan Province, Department of Natural Resources of Sichuan Province, Institute of Tibetan Plateau Meteorology, Chengdu University of Technology, and the ANSO Secretariat. Nearly 120 experts from international organizations and disaster prevention technology and management institutions of Belt and Road partner countries attended the meeting. Academician Mohammad Qasim Jan was invited to present a keynote report titled "The Indus River System, Impact of Climate Change, and Eco-environment conservation," while Prof. Mumtaz Shah participated in the dialogue session, engaging in thematic discussions on "Climate Change and Disaster Risk Prevention."
Throughout the conference, CPJRC was responsibel for all the activities by the 4-member delegation led by Mr. Sajid Baloch, Secretary (Vice Minister) of Ministry of Science and Technology of Pakistan. The delegation participated in key agenda items including the opening ceremony, ministerial meetings, bilateral ministerial talks, and relevant forums.
With the theme "Building a Road of Innovation, Promoting Cooperative Development – Jointly Building the Belt and Road Science, Technology and Innovation Community," the conference featured 38 events across five major segments: important events, thematic meetings, special activities, round table, and technology matchmaking. It brought together participants from over 100 countries and international organizations. Moving forward, CPJRC will continue to leverage its own platform advantages to facilitate more practical scientific and technological cooperation between China and Pakistan.
