CPJRC Held Information Session on Enrolment and Scholarship Policies of UCAS for International Students in Pakistan (Session II)

From January 19th to 22nd, 2021, the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) organized online activities on enrolment information for international students. The China-Pakistan Joint Research Center on Earth Sciences (CPJRC), together with the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research and the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), successfully organized relevant activities in the branch venue on January 20. The session was chaired by Prof. Hong Tianhua, Executive Director of CPJRC. Prof. Xie Yong, Director of the International Cooperation Division of UCAS, and the members from CPJRC's partners made reports successively. Prof. Gulraiz Akter, former Dean of the Department of Earth Sciences of Quaid-i-Azam University in Pakistan, and more than 70 Pakistani students listened to the reports.
Prof. Xie Yong made a comprehensive introduction on CAS's research spirit and its contribution to the society and education, and UCAS's educational condition, education model, faculty construction, campus construction, integration of education and scientific research, international exchanges and cooperation, international student programs and outstanding international student alumni, etc. Ms. Yao Caiyun from the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Ms. Liu Wenwen from the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Ms. Bai Yanying from the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, and Ms. Zhang Fan from the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology gave detailed introductions to the basic condition, organization structure, scientific research platform, faculty, and enrolment of international students of each institute respectively. Pakistani doctoral students Bazai Nazir Ahmed (from the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment) and Kamran Amin (from the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology) also shared information on their colorful study, research and life experiences in UCAS and the institutes.
In the session, the participants also exchanged views online with the teachers of UCAS and the institutes on issues such as the relation between CAS and UCAS, the enrolment application process, scholarship application, etc.
Prof. Gulraiz Akter fully affirmed the online enrolment information session held by CPJRC, and expressed his sincere thanks to Researcher Hong Tianhua and the speakers from partners.
This is the second online enrolment information session held by CPJRC. In the future, CPJRC will continue to hold such sessions, so as to better publicize CAS and its universities, CPJRC, IMHE and the partners, and provide significant support for enrolling more high-quality international students.
