China-Pakistan Symposium on Hydrological and Geological
Disaster: Monitoring and Early Warning
27-28 August, 2025
at NDMA HQ, Islamabad.

In the face of natural hazards like floods, landslides, and glacial lake outbursts, Pakistan and China share a common interest in mitigating the impacts through effective disaster monitoring and early warning systems. Both countries have collaborated on scientific research, technological innovation, and policy development to address these shared challenges.
The China-Pakistan Joint Research Center on Earth Sciences has facilitated collaborative research and development initiatives that focus on hazard assessment, real-time monitoring, and forecasting. One of the key joint undertakings has been the development of an advanced early warning system by China-Pakistan Joint Research Centre on Earth Sciences (CPJRC) and National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) under the umbrella of the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), aiming to enhance disaster preparedness and minimize the loss of lives and property.
This symposium will bring together experts, policymakers, and practitioners from both countries and beyond to discuss recent advancements, exchange technical expertise, and chart a course for future collaboration in disaster risk reduction.
The details of the Symposium are as follows:
